Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Urges Sri Lanka to Sustain Structural Reforms After IMF Review

The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce has applauded the Sri Lankan government for successfully completing the third review under the IMF Extended Fund Facility (EFF) arrangement and has urged the continuation of structural reforms for sustainable economic growth.

In a statement, the Chamber emphasized that the latest approval from the IMF Board and the subsequent disbursement would provide critical support for Sri Lanka’s ongoing economic recovery.

As Sri Lanka moves into the second half of its four-year IMF program, the trade body called for the acceleration of key structural reforms, including trade facilitation reforms like the National Single Window and the new Customs Act. Other priorities highlighted include advancing digital ID, strengthening governance reforms, and broadening the tax base to meet fiscal targets through improved revenue administration and digitalization.

The Chamber expressed its commitment to working closely with policymakers to support and drive these essential reforms.
