Channa Gunawardana Appointed Chairman of Litro Gas Lanka

Litro Gas Lanka Ltd. and Litro Gas Terminal Lanka Ltd. have announced the appointment of Channa Gunawardana as their new Chairman, a move that underscores the companies’ dedication to providing a consistent energy supply throughout Sri Lanka.

Gunawardana brings extensive experience to his new role, having previously served as CEO/Director of Aitken Spence Garments Ltd. and CEO of Royal Fernwood Porcelain PLC since December 2021. He joined Dankotuwa Porcelain PLC in 2019, where he showcased his skills in business transformation and leadership.

His international career includes roles as Country Manager for Ernst & Young in the Maldives and Chief Financial Officer for apparel operations in Bangladesh, as well as establishing a pioneering manufacturing facility in Africa in 2015. Gunawardana’s 12-year tenure at Hirdaramani Group culminated in his position as Chief Operating Officer of the Knit Cluster, overseeing ten manufacturing plants and leading sales and marketing for key product lines.

As Sri Lanka’s leading energy provider, Litro Gas Lanka plays a vital role in ensuring a reliable energy supply for both households and industries. Gunawardana’s appointment aligns with the company’s vision to extend its services across the island, catering to the energy needs of both homes and energy-intensive sectors, especially during challenging times.

His leadership has been recognized with numerous accolades, including the Hall of Fame for Leadership Excellence 2022 from the Colombo Leadership Academy and the title of Best Manufacturing CEO of the Year 2022 by CEO Sri Lanka. Gunawardana is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK) and the Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, holds an MBA from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia, and a First-Class degree from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He is currently pursuing a PhD at the Management and Science University in Malaysia.
