The Sri Lanka–USA Business Council (SLUSABC) of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce has re-elected Charithra Hettiarachchi, CEO of WICHY Plantation Company (Pvt) Ltd, as President for the 2024/2025 term during its 8th annual general meeting.
Looking ahead, the council aims to strengthen partnerships with USAID, the Export Development Board (EDB), and the Board of Investment (BOI) to further support Sri Lankan businesses and communities. Hettiarachchi highlighted key initiatives over the past year, such as US visitor visa sessions, the SelectUSA Investment Summit, and raising awareness on human trafficking.
US Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Julie J Chung, was also present and reaffirmed the US government’s commitment to Sri Lanka’s economic growth, promoting transparency and anti-corruption efforts. The ambassador encouraged private sector investments in key sectors like agriculture, in line with programs such as the National Trade Single Window and AccelerateHER.
The council continues to play a pivotal role in promoting trade and strengthening business relations between Sri Lanka and the United States.
