Colombo Port Achieves Record Container Throughput of 7.78 Million TEUs in 2024

The Port of Colombo has set a new benchmark in container handling, achieving an all-time high throughput of 7.78 million Twenty-foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) in 2024. This surpasses the 6.91 million TEUs managed in 2023.

The Colombo International Container Terminal (CICT) led the performance, handling 3.35 million TEUs. The Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) contributed 2.4 million TEUs, while the South Asia Gateway Terminals (SAGT) accounted for 2.01 million TEUs.
