Daraz Sri Lanka, in collaboration with the National Enterprise Development Authority (NEDA) under the Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Ministry, has launched “Daraz Connect,” an initiative designed to integrate entrepreneurs into Sri Lanka’s digital economy. This program provides small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and aspiring entrepreneurs with essential e-commerce training, enabling them to leverage digital platforms to expand their businesses.
The first Daraz Connect session of 2025 was held in Matara, marking the beginning of a nationwide effort to empower rural sellers. Through a combination of online and offline workshops, participants gain hands-on experience in setting up digital storefronts, optimizing product listings, and implementing digital marketing strategies. The program also introduces them to Daraz’s logistics and payment solutions, removing financial barriers and making digital commerce accessible to all.
At the core of this initiative is Daraz University, a virtual educational platform offering structured e-commerce training. Sellers receive guidance on customer behavior, inventory management, and business optimization, alongside Daraz’s end-to-end logistics and payment facilitation. This creates an ecosystem where entrepreneurs can thrive with minimal investment.
Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Ministry Secretary Thilaka Jayasundara emphasized the significance of the public-private partnership, stating that Daraz Connect will modernize retail, expand economic opportunities, and drive job creation, especially in rural areas.
Daraz Sri Lanka Managing Director Ehsan Saya highlighted that Daraz Connect is a step towards bridging the digital divide, equipping sellers with the tools, training, and marketplace access needed to succeed in the e-commerce landscape.
Following the successful Matara workshop, Daraz plans to expand this initiative to key regions across Sri Lanka, ensuring entrepreneurs nationwide benefit from digital commerce opportunities. Through this effort, Daraz is driving inclusive economic growth and fostering a sustainable digital economy in Sri Lanka.
