The Free Trade Zone Manufacturers Association (FTZMA), the sole trade chamber representing export-oriented companies under the purview of the Board of Investment (BOI), extended its congratulations to the National People’s Power (NPP) for its landslide victory in the recent General Elections.
In a statement, the FTZMA lauded the NPP’s success as a testament to the resilience of Sri Lanka’s democratic values. They emphasized that the election results reflect the citizens’ aspiration for a stable government capable of driving critical reforms for the nation’s progress.
The FTZMA affirmed its willingness to work closely with the new administration to accelerate Sri Lanka’s economic development. Key priorities outlined by the association include:
- Eradicating corruption and ensuring good governance.
- Simplifying investment processes through single-window systems.
- Promoting automation and digitization for efficiency.
- Implementing labour reforms to enhance competitiveness.
- Advancing a sustainable development agenda to uplift living standards.
The association expressed confidence that these reforms would boost foreign investment, strengthen the export sector, and pave the way for long-term economic prosperity.
“We believe these efforts will lead to greater success and prosperity for the export industry in the years to come,” the FTZMA stated.
By focusing on collaborative efforts with the new government, the FTZMA aims to contribute to a robust and sustainable economic future for Sri Lanka.
