Greaves Ampere Sri Lanka is set to accelerate the country’s electric mobility journey after Softlogic Automobiles secured the exclusive distribution rights for one of India’s leading electric two-wheeler brands. The partnership marks the official entry of Greaves Ampere into the Sri Lankan market ahead of its commercial launch in August.
Greaves Ampere Sri Lanka enters the market through Softlogic Automobiles’ exclusive partnership
Softlogic Automobiles (Pvt) Ltd, a subsidiary of Softlogic Holdings PLC, has been appointed the authorised distributor for Greaves Ampere, strengthening its position in Sri Lanka’s growing electric vehicle sector. The agreement will introduce a comprehensive range of electric scooters to local consumers while expanding the company’s portfolio of sustainable transport solutions.
The brand will make its official Sri Lankan debut at the Autovision Colombo Motorshow 2026 before commercial sales begin at the Softlogic Max showroom in Wattala. The company also plans to expand its dealer network across the island by the end of the year, improving accessibility for customers seeking environmentally friendly transport options.
Under the partnership, Greaves Ampere Sri Lanka will introduce four models to the local market: the Nexus, Magnus Neo, Magnus Gmax and Reo Vyb. The range has been developed to serve a broad spectrum of users, including young professionals, university students, urban commuters, families, first-time vehicle buyers, delivery riders and commercial fleet operators.
Greaves Ampere operates under Greaves Electric Mobility, an Indian manufacturer with decades of engineering expertise and an expanding international presence. Its electric two-wheelers have gained recognition for combining practical design with efficient battery-powered performance, making them suitable for daily commuting and urban transportation.
Commenting on the partnership, Softlogic Automobiles Managing Director Hemantha Gunawardena said the agreement aligns with the company’s long-term vision of introducing globally recognised mobility solutions to Sri Lanka while supporting the country’s transition toward cleaner transportation.
“At Softlogic Automobiles, we are committed to bringing world-class mobility solutions to Sri Lanka. We are proud to introduce Greaves Ampere, one of India’s leading electric two-wheeler brands, as part of our vision to support the country’s transition towards smarter and more sustainable transportation. Through this exclusive partnership, we aim to provide Sri Lankan customers with innovative electric mobility solutions backed by trusted after-sales service and the strength of the Softlogic Group.”
The company believes the arrival of the brand comes at a time when demand for electric two wheelers is increasing across Sri Lanka. Rising fuel prices, growing environmental awareness and continued interest in lower operating costs have encouraged consumers to consider electric mobility as a practical alternative to conventional petrol-powered motorcycles and scooters.
Beyond vehicle sales, Softlogic Automobiles intends to establish Greaves Ampere as a leading player in Sri Lanka’s electric mobility market by investing in customer service, after-sales support and nationwide dealer expansion. The company says building customer confidence will be critical to encouraging wider adoption of electric vehicles across both urban and suburban markets.
The partnership also reflects Softlogic Group’s broader commitment to sustainable mobility, an area receiving increasing attention as governments, businesses and consumers seek solutions that reduce carbon emissions and dependence on fossil fuels. Electric two-wheelers have emerged as one of the fastest-growing segments in South Asia, offering affordable and efficient transportation while contributing to national sustainability objectives.
Industry observers expect the entry of an established Indian manufacturer through a trusted Sri Lankan distributor to strengthen competition within the local electric vehicle market. The availability of multiple models catering to different customer segments is also expected to encourage broader consumer adoption as supporting infrastructure continues to develop.
The launch of Greaves Ampere Sri Lanka represents more than the introduction of a new automotive brand. It signals growing confidence in the country’s evolving electric vehicle ecosystem and highlights the increasing role of private sector investment in advancing cleaner transportation solutions. With commercial sales scheduled to commence in August and further announcements on pricing, financing options and dealer expansion expected soon, the partnership is positioned to contribute meaningfully to Sri Lanka’s transition toward sustainable mobility.
