Hambantota International Port Projects 50% Growth by Year-End

The Hambantota International Port (HIP) has achieved significant milestones in 2024, with a 40 percent increase in volumes to date. The port’s Commercial and Marketing division forecasts that growth will reach 50 percent by the end of the year.

Lance Zuo, General Manager of Commercial and Marketing at Hambantota International Port Group (HIPG), attributes this growth to strategic networking, effective port management, and operational efficiencies. “This impressive performance highlights the port’s capability to handle rising volumes and reflects HIPG’s dedication to continuous development through strategic investments in infrastructure and services,” Zuo said.

The port has seen notable growth in its Bulk/Break-bulk, Gas, Marine Services, and Container segments, reinforcing its role as a major player in the maritime industry. Its strategic location and efficient services continue to enhance its reputation as a preferred destination for transshipment and logistical services.
