Suzuki Motors Lanka, a subsidiary of Softlogic Holdings PLC, has confirmed the re-entry of Haojue Motorcycles to the Sri Lankan market, marking an effort to rebuild the brand’s presence with a combination of familiar models and newer offerings.
At the centre of the relaunch is the GN125, a motorcycle that developed a strong following among Sri Lankan riders during its earlier years in the market. Its reputation was built largely around dependable daily transportation, relatively low running costs and straightforward ownership, characteristics that remain important in Sri Lanka’s commuter-focused motorcycle market.
For many previous owners, the return of the GN125 represents more than the reintroduction of an established motorcycle. It brings back a model associated with a period when practicality and durability were major considerations for riders seeking affordable personal transportation.
The revived range, however, is not limited to the GN125. Suzuki Motors Lanka is also preparing to introduce the NK150 and UHR150, expanding the Haojue portfolio for customers seeking alternatives across different riding requirements. The two models are expected to appeal particularly to younger riders and commuters looking for additional performance while retaining the brand’s focus on dependability.
Haojue has a significant presence in China’s motorcycle industry, operating as a joint venture with Suzuki. According to Thilina Wanniarachchi, Sales Manager at Suzuki Motors Lanka Limited, the GN125 retains a special connection with Sri Lankan riders. He said the decision to bring the motorcycle back is aimed at serving customers who have trusted the model while providing the support and service standards associated with Softlogic.
The return of Haojue Motorcycles is expected to target several customer groups. Former GN125 owners may be drawn to the familiarity of the model, while students, commuters and first-time motorcycle buyers could represent a new customer base. Meanwhile, the NK150 and UHR150 provide options for riders who want to move beyond basic commuter motorcycles without moving away from reliability.
A key component of the relaunch will be the development of the authorised dealer network. Softlogic Automobiles has indicated that it plans to expand Haojue’s authorised dealer presence across Sri Lanka in the coming months. This will be important for the brand’s long-term positioning, particularly because accessibility to servicing and genuine spare parts can significantly influence motorcycle purchasing decisions.
After-sales support is therefore expected to remain a central part of the rollout. For riders, the availability of genuine parts, trained service facilities and an established dealer network can be just as important as the initial purchase price when evaluating the overall cost of ownership.
