Indian conglomerate ITC has made its mark on the global hospitality scene with the inauguration of “ITC Ratnadipa,” a luxurious 352-room hotel in Colombo, marking its first overseas venture. The hotel, along with the Sapphire Residence complex, represents a substantial $500 million investment, positioning it as a significant addition to Sri Lanka’s tourism and hospitality landscape. This milestone also marks the 16th Luxury Collection Hotel in ITC Hotels’ portfolio and the debut of Marriott International’s luxury brands in Sri Lanka.
President Ranil Wickremesinghe graced the grand opening ceremony of ITC Ratnadipa, underscoring its importance in enhancing Sri Lanka’s hospitality sector. The hotel, managed by the wholly-owned subsidiary WelcomHotels Lanka Ltd., is poised to offer exceptional experiences to discerning travelers. Inspired by Sri Lanka’s national flower, the floating water lily, the hotel’s design reflects a blend of contemporary elegance and cultural heritage.
ITC Ratnadipa boasts 352 guest rooms, suites, and service apartments, each adorned with private balconies offering stunning waterfront views. The highlight of the complex is the state-of-the-art ‘Ahasa’ sky bridge, connecting two towers and providing a unique panoramic experience. The hotel’s culinary offerings feature globally renowned cuisines, including the award-winning Peshawri and Avartana restaurants, among others.
Emphasizing sustainability, ITC Ratnadipa is designed to meet US Green Building Council LEED Platinum certification standards, showcasing a commitment to environmental responsibility. Additionally, the project integrates local culinary cuisine and indigenous foods, contributing to responsible sourcing practices and lowering carbon footprints.
The launch of ITC Ratnadipa marks a significant step in Sri Lanka’s tourism and hospitality sector, promising unparalleled luxury, exquisite dining experiences, and a strong focus on sustainability, setting new standards in the industry.
