A capacity building program for Government of Sri Lanka (GoSL) officers will kick off today at India’s National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG) in Mussoorie, Uttarakhand. This two-week-long program falls under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Programme (ITEC) by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India (GoI). The program will host 40 senior civil services officers from various GoSL Ministries and Departments, focusing on digital technology’s role in enhancing governance and public service delivery under the theme of ‘Maximum Governance – Minimum Government’.
Conducted in partnership with the MEA, the NCGG program aims to facilitate knowledge exchange and showcase successful governance initiatives from India. Participants will delve into topics like housing for all, digital technology utilization, disaster management (especially in coastal areas), health insurance, public-private partnerships, digital infrastructure, circular economy, and election management. Field visits are planned to provide practical insights into governance and societal dynamics, enriching the learning experience.
This program follows a similar initiative hosted by NCGG earlier for senior civil servants of Sri Lanka. The NCGG, an autonomous institution under the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, is committed to promoting public policy and governance excellence nationally and internationally. Through partnerships with MEA, NCGG has trained civil servants from various countries, demonstrating its commitment to global capacity building and knowledge sharing in governance practices.
