Indiya at City of Dreams Sri Lanka welcomes Indian Accent Mumbai and Ekaa for two exclusive nights
For two evenings on August 7 and 8, 2026, Colombo’s food enthusiasts will have the opportunity to experience a rare collaboration between two of India’s most celebrated restaurants. The exclusive guest chef event brings together Executive Chef Rijul Gulati of Indian Accent Mumbai and Chef Niyati Rao, Head Chef and Partner of Ekaa, for specially curated tasting menus that blend India’s rich culinary traditions with modern innovation.
Hosted at Indiya, the signature Indian restaurant at City of Dreams Sri Lanka, the event highlights the growing prominence of Colombo as a destination for world-class gastronomy while reinforcing the resort’s commitment to delivering premium dining experiences.
Guests can choose between carefully crafted vegetarian and non-vegetarian Chef’s Tasting Menus designed as a culinary dialogue between two distinctive philosophies. Indian Accent is internationally recognised for reimagining traditional Indian dishes through refined contemporary techniques, while Ekaa has earned acclaim for its ingredient-first approach inspired by seasonal produce, culture and personal memories.
The menus feature an impressive selection of signature creations that reflect both restaurants’ unique identities. Diners can expect standout dishes including Papdi Chaat with Crackling Spinach, Blue Cheese Naan, Black Cod with Masala Carrot and Apricot Chutney, Tomato Tomato, Marathawada, and the iconic Daulat Ki Chaat. The tasting journey concludes with Risalamande served alongside pandan rice gelato, offering an elegant finish to the dining experience.
Chef Rijul Gulati said the collaboration represents an opportunity to showcase the evolving story of Indian gastronomy to Sri Lankan audiences.
“Indian cuisine is shaped by stories, traditions and ingredients from across the country. We’re excited to bring Indian Accent’s perspective to Colombo and share our approach to modern Indian cuisine with guests at Indiya,” he said.
Chef Niyati Rao echoed the sentiment, describing Ekaa’s culinary philosophy as one centred on celebrating ingredients, cultures and memories in unexpected yet meaningful ways.
“We’re excited to bring our culinary philosophy to Colombo and create an experience that encourages guests to discover Indian cuisine through a new lens,” she said.
Indian Accent has built an international reputation as one of the pioneers of modern Indian cuisine. With restaurants in New Delhi, New York and Mumbai, the brand has received numerous international accolades and was recognised by Time magazine as one of the World’s 100 Greatest Places. Its ability to reinterpret classic Indian flavours through contemporary techniques has made it one of the most influential names in global dining.
Joining the collaboration is Ekaa, one of Mumbai’s most innovative restaurants. Led by Chef Niyati Rao alongside restaurateur Sagar Neve, the restaurant has gained recognition for placing ingredients at the centre of every dish rather than following conventional culinary boundaries. Chef Rao has also earned places on both the Forbes India and Forbes Asia 30 Under 30 lists, while receiving consecutive honours at The Best Chef Awards.
The event reflects a growing trend of international chef collaborations that introduce global culinary talent to regional audiences. For Colombo, such experiences continue to strengthen the city’s reputation as an emerging destination for premium hospitality and Colombo dining experience offerings that appeal to both local diners and international visitors.
As the Indian specialty restaurant at City of Dreams Sri Lanka, Indiya at City of Dreams Sri Lanka continues to showcase the diversity and evolution of contemporary Indian cuisine by partnering with internationally recognised chefs and celebrated restaurants. Through initiatives such as this exclusive collaboration, the restaurant aims to deliver memorable dining experiences while positioning Colombo more prominently on the regional culinary map.
The event will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on August 7 and 8, 2026, at Indiya within City of Dreams Sri Lanka. The Chef’s Tasting Menu is priced at LKR 17,000+++ per guest, with reservations available via +94 77 962 8132.
