Jaya Container Terminals Celebrates 16 Years of Success with Record-Breaking Growth

Jaya Container Terminals Ltd. (JCT Ltd.), a subsidiary of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA), recently celebrated its 16th anniversary, marking a significant milestone in the Sri Lankan maritime industry. Since its establishment in 2008, JCT Ltd. has grown into a key player, consistently exceeding revenue and profitability expectations.

Chairman and Attorney-at-law Lakmal Ratnayake attributed the company’s success to its strategic agility and dedicated workforce. He emphasized the critical role played by the Ports, Shipping, and Aviation Ministry, the SLPA, and JCT’s loyal clientele in driving growth.

Over the last three years, JCT Ltd. has achieved remarkable milestones, such as offering Marine Gas Oil during Sri Lanka’s fuel crisis and complying with Low Sulphur Fuel (LSF) regulations to serve a broader range of vessels. The company’s oil banks saw a surge in sales during the Red Sea crisis, boosting revenue and fuel volumes by 36%.

In 2022, JCT Ltd. recorded its highest profit of Rs. 245 million, and in 2023, revenue reached Rs. 612 million. By August 2024, the company had already achieved Rs. 489 million in revenue, a 10% increase compared to the previous year.

Looking ahead, JCT Ltd. is expanding its fuel storage capacity and exploring new opportunities, such as transitioning from LPG to Liquid Natural Gas (LNG), to further strengthen its market position and continue serving the Colombo Port and its clients efficiently.
