Sri Lankan AI company LankaGPT is set to launch a revolutionary new platform, Sigiriya AI, in July 2024. This groundbreaking tool, the first of its kind built by Sri Lankans, aims to provide free AI access to education, agriculture, and healthcare sectors both locally and internationally.
Developed by a global team of 30 individuals across Sri Lanka, the United States, and Dubai, Sigiriya AI is a text-based platform designed specifically for the Sri Lankan community. It will support Sinhala and Tamil languages, encompassing various dialects and regional variations.
“We recognized the potential of AI to uplift our economy and society,” said Lakshitha Karunarathna, Co-Founder and Director of LankaGPT Technologies Ltd. “That’s why Sigiriya AI will be free for education, agriculture, and healthcare. We hope this will drive innovation, empower communities, and promote sustainable development.“
Sigiriya AI goes beyond Sri Lanka’s borders. The platform targets regions with significant Sri Lankan populations, including the Middle East, Canada, and Australia, as well as vast Tamil-speaking communities in India, Southeast Asia, and beyond.
This initiative marks a significant achievement for Sri Lanka, showcasing LankaGPT’s ability to compete on the global stage. Collaborations with numerous non-profit organizations dedicated to Sri Lankan communities worldwide played a crucial role in bringing Sigiriya AI to life.
Sigiriya AI’s free access to AI technology for critical sectors has the potential to create lasting positive impacts, empowering Sri Lankans around the world.
