LAUGFS Gas PLC confirmed the appointment of Dhanusha Muthukumarana, Dr. Niroshan J. Pieries, and Nalinda Kurukulasooriya as Non-Independent Directors to its Board. In addition, Muthukumarana has also been appointed to the Board of LAUGFS Power PLC, further strengthening leadership alignment across the Group.

Muthukumarana brings over 26 years of global experience spanning technology, finance, and enterprise transformation. Currently serving as Group Executive Director of LAUGFS Holdings Ltd, he has played a central role in shaping group-wide strategy, innovation, and performance optimisation. His career includes senior leadership roles across global and regional organisations, including the London Stock Exchange Group, where he established and led the Enterprise Architecture Practice within its Technology Services Division.
He has also held key positions at Hatton National Bank PLC, Hemas Holdings PLC, Microsoft Corporation, and John Keells Holdings PLC, reflecting a diverse professional background that bridges corporate scale with innovation-driven leadership. His exposure to global markets and Fortune 500 environments is expected to support LAUGFS Gas in accelerating its digital and operational transformation initiatives.
Muthukumarana is also a co-founder of Potenza, a global technology consultancy with operations across Sri Lanka, Singapore, and Australia, specialising in SAP consulting, data analytics, and intelligent automation. His contributions to Sri Lanka’s digital ecosystem have been widely recognised, including his induction into the Forbes Technology Council in 2021, marking him as the first Sri Lankan to join the network.
Dr. Pieries, who brings over two decades of multi-sector experience, has held several senior leadership roles within the LAUGFS Group. His expertise spans energy, lubricants, telecommunications, logistics, and financial services, positioning him as a key contributor to the company’s strategic direction. Prior to his current appointment, he served as Director and Chief Executive Officer of LAUGFS Lubricants Ltd. and LAUGFS Car Care and Petroleum, where he led successful transformation and expansion initiatives.
Under his leadership, the business strengthened its market presence and expanded into regional markets such as Bangladesh and the Maldives. His experience in business transformation Sri Lanka is expected to play a critical role in enhancing operational performance and driving sustainable growth within LAUGFS Gas PLC.
Eng. Kurukulasooriya, an experienced engineering and corporate leader, brings strong technical and operational expertise to the Board. His career began in the automotive engineering sector, where he developed a foundation in mechanical diagnostics and fleet management before transitioning into broader leadership roles. He later assumed leadership of LAUGFS Gas PLC during one of the most challenging periods for the Sri Lankan energy sector, marked by supply disruptions and financial constraints during the national economic crisis.
During this period, he successfully steered the company through operational challenges, stabilising supply chains and reinforcing market confidence. The company recorded improved performance under his leadership, reflecting gains in efficiency and resilience. His appointment to the Board is expected to further strengthen strategic oversight and execution.
