Lion Brewery Launches Sri Lanka’s First Innovation Centre for Craft Brews

Lion Brewery (Ceylon) PLC has unveiled Sri Lanka’s first-ever Innovation Centre dedicated to the research and development of craft and specialty brews aimed at export markets. The initiative, approved by the Board of Investment (BOI), marks a significant milestone in the company’s journey of brewing innovation.

This state-of-the-art facility is equipped with advanced European brewing equipment, enabling the testing and scaling of diverse brewing styles infused with locally sourced ingredients. The centre focuses on developing value-added products to meet the growing global demand for craft and specialty brews, which is expected to rise substantially in the next five years. This surge is fueled by consumer interest in high-quality, sustainable, and ethical flavor innovations, with similar trends observed in the tourism industry where travelers seek unique culinary experiences.
