MR Emphasizes SLPP Support as Crucial for Next Election

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, who currently leads the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), emphasized the party’s longstanding support for the working community of Sri Lanka. He noted that unlike some political parties that only acknowledge labor issues on May Day, the SLPP has consistently stood by the working class both during its time in power and in opposition. Rajapaksa criticized other parties for using labor groups as mere tools for street protests, contrasting this approach with the SLPP’s genuine support for the labor force.

These remarks were made during Rajapaksa’s address at the May Day Rally organized by the SLPP at Campbell Park in Borella. He highlighted that the SLPP has garnered significant support from the majority of the country’s labor force, showcasing the party’s deep-rooted connection with and commitment to the working community of Sri Lanka.
