PickMe Expands Delivery Services for Holiday Season

PickMe is set to launch a new feature on its platform, facilitating the delivery of spirits and soft liquor during the holiday season. This expansion integrates a significant economic sector into its technology-driven service offerings, ensuring secure and efficient merchant-to-customer transactions.

The company has developed a robust technological solution, supported by standard operating procedures, to ensure compliance and accountability in every delivery. PickMe’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Maduranga Kulathilaka, emphasized that the platform acts solely as a technology provider, leaving transactional responsibilities to third-party merchants who must adhere to legal regulations regarding alcohol sales.

The updated mobile app allows users to browse and order alcoholic beverages from registered merchants seamlessly. The app prioritizes user convenience while ensuring compliance with legal requirements, including age verification and acknowledgment of terms and charges before completing an order. Customers will enter their National Identity Card (NIC) details and confirm they are over 21 years old before proceeding.

“Our app ensures transparency and legal compliance while offering convenience. Age verification is conducted by merchants, but we also perform checks to uphold legal standards,” stated the CFO.

Orders can be finalized through a straightforward process, including payment via card. Designated independent third-party drivers will handle deliveries, with real-time location updates provided to users via advanced AI and GPS technology.

PickMe aims to align with global trends in alcohol delivery, already operational in countries like India and Nepal. This move is expected to enhance convenience for Sri Lankan app users while contributing to the nation’s transportation sector GDP.

“This expansion has the potential to transform access to on-demand mobility solutions in Sri Lanka, further driving technological advancement in the country,” added the CFO.
