PUCSL Approves 22.5% Electricity Tariff Reduction

The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has approved a 22.5% reduction in electricity tariffs, effective from midnight on the 15th. PUCSL Chairperson Prof. Manjula Fernando announced several key changes:

  • A 25% reduction for domestic users consuming less than 30 units, lowering the unit price from Rs. 8 to Rs. 6.
  • A 55% reduction for those consuming between 61 and 90 units, reducing the unit price from Rs. 20 to Rs. 9.
  • Over 30% tariff reduction for religious places.
  • A 33% daytime tariff reduction for hotels and minor industries, applicable to both low voltage and 33 kilovolt systems.
