In celebration of World Children’s Day 2024, Sri Lanka Insurance Life Corporation (SLIC) is offering a free life insurance cover worth Rs. 1 million to the parents of every child born on October 1, 2024, across the island. This initiative, now in its third consecutive year, reflects SLIC Life’s commitment to ensuring the financial security of families during a pivotal moment in their lives while promoting the importance of life insurance as a vital safety net.
On October 1, 2024, SLIC implemented this program nationwide, covering all hospitals in Sri Lanka to reach families throughout the country. The free life cover aims to provide parents with financial protection during uncertain times, helping them establish a secure future for their families.
Chandana L. Aluthgama, Chief Executive Officer of Sri Lanka Insurance Group, commented on the initiative, stating, “As a responsible organization, we believe our commitment to the well-being of children extends beyond mere financial protection. In the current challenging economic climate, having a safety net for families is essential. Our project, launched in 2022, aims to provide free life insurance cover for children born on World Children’s Day, ensuring their families have the financial support they need. We also offer various insurance solutions to secure the uninterrupted education and aspirations of our children.”
To commemorate this significant initiative, a ceremonial event was held at Castle Street Hospital for Women in Colombo. Representatives from SLIC Life, hospital staff, and families gathered to celebrate the importance of life insurance in securing a brighter future for the children of Sri Lanka and their families.
