Sri Lanka and Poland are discussing a new government-to-government (G2G) agreement to facilitate employment opportunities for Sri Lankan workers in specific sectors. Sri Lanka’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, M.U.M. Ali Sabry, revealed this development during his official visit to Poland.
Sabry announced on X (Twitter) that Poland is considering the inclusion of Sri Lankan workers in targeted industries through this G2G agreement. He also noted that visa processes will be eased as part of this initiative. The discussions with Poland’s Foreign Minister, Radosław Sikorski, aim to enhance bilateral ties between the two nations.
During the visit, Sabry and Sikorski discussed various areas of cooperation, including port engagement, connectivity, labor, education, tourism, and cultural exchanges. This visit marks the first time in 20 years that a Sri Lankan Foreign Minister has traveled to Poland.
Additionally, Sabry delivered a lecture on Strategic Autonomy at the University of Warsaw and explored opportunities to strengthen collaboration between Warsaw and Sri Lankan universities, including those in Colombo and Jaffna.
