Sri Lanka Cabinet Approves New PPP Agency Bill

Sri Lanka’s cabinet has given the green light to draft legislation for establishing a National Agency for Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), following a proposal from President Ranil Wickremesinghe, according to the state information office.

The new agency will be tasked with designing and managing PPP projects, as well as coordinating with international organizations. It will focus on identifying opportunities where public-private partnerships can be applied.

The establishment of the PPP Agency requires a legal foundation, and a legal framework is necessary for formalizing PPP agreements. The legal draftsman has been directed to prepare the bill to meet these objectives.
