Sri Lanka is set to offer a two-week tourist visa at no cost to visitors from 38 selected countries, according to Cabinet spokesman and Minister Bandula Gunawardena. The new visa policy was approved by the Cabinet and is aimed at making travel easier, similar to Singapore’s visa-on-arrival system.
“The Cabinet approved the immediate implementation of the proposal to issue a 14-day visa on arrival at no charge,” Minister Gunawardena announced on Tuesday.
This decision comes as Sri Lanka’s online visa issuing system has been temporarily halted by a court order, causing long queues at Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake. The new visa policy is expected to streamline the arrival process for tourists and boost the country’s tourism industry.
