The Industry Development Board (IDB) has inaugurated the Sri Lanka Institute of Industry Professionals (SLIIP), aimed at providing an active platform to address industry-related issues.
Operating under the Ministry of Industries, SLIIP is designed to enhance the sector by improving the knowledge, experience, and skills of professionals, according to the IDB.
Minister of Industries Dr. Ramesh Pathirana emphasized the importance of industrialists and entrepreneurs in the country’s economic development, as highlighted in an IDB statement.
The institute will leverage the expertise of new professionals for the advancement of the industry sector, facilitate better communication among industry professionals, provide a platform for resolving industry-related issues, and offer training programs for professionals.
Dr. Pathirana remarked, “The service economy in our country has seen significant improvement, and the production economy should be empowered to reach the same level.”
