Sri Lanka Rupee Opens Flat; Bond Yields and Stocks Steady

Sri Lanka’s rupee opened flat at 299.50/70 against the US dollar on Tuesday, according to dealers. Bond yields remained largely steady, while stocks experienced a slight increase.

The rupee had closed at 299.50/80 to the dollar on Monday. In the secondary bond market, yields saw some changes: a bond maturing on 15.12.2026 was quoted at 11.00/15 percent, down from 11.05/10 percent; a bond maturing on 15.12.2027 remained stable at 12.05/20 percent; and a bond maturing on 15.02.2028 was quoted at 12.20/40 percent, down from 12.30/45 percent.

In equities, Colombo’s All Share Price Index opened 10.15 points higher at 11,322, while the S&P SL20 index of more liquid stocks rose by 0.08 percent, or 2.61 points, to 3,231. Market turnover was reported at 5.6 million rupees.
