Sri Lanka’s rupee opened weaker at 299.10/40 against the US dollar on Monday, according to market dealers. Bond yields showed an upward trend, while stock markets saw a modest rise of 0.06 percent.
The rupee had closed at 299.10/30 against the greenback last Friday.
In the secondary bond market:
- A bond maturing on 15.12.2026 was quoted at 11.30/40 percent, rising from 11.20/40 percent.
- A bond maturing on 15.12.2027 closed at 12.10/30 percent, down from 12.20/40 percent.
- A bond maturing on 01.07.2028 was quoted at 12.90/13.00 percent, slightly down from 12.90/13.05 percent.
- A bond maturing on 15.06.2029 was quoted at 13.10/13.30 percent.
In equities, Colombo’s All Share Price Index (ASPI) opened 6.95 points higher at 10,782, while the S&P SL20, which tracks more liquid stocks, opened down by 0.38 percent, or 11.57 points, to settle at 3,025. The market turnover was 10 million rupees.
