Sri Lanka’s rupee opened weaker at 293.30/60 to the US dollar in the spot market, compared to 293.15/40 on Thursday, dealers reported. Meanwhile, bond yields showed little movement, with a bond maturing on 15.09.2027 quoted at 9.75/85 percent, slightly up from 9.75/82 percent. A bond maturing on 15.02.2028 was quoted at 10.12/15 percent, showing a slight decrease from 10.10/15 percent. The bond maturing on 15.09.2029 was quoted at 10.70/75 percent, up from 10.60/75 percent.
In the equity market, the All Share Price Index (ASPI) gained 0.52 percent, or 85.53 points, reaching 16,434, while the more liquid S&P SL20 rose by 0.49 percent, or 24.29 points, to 4,996. Turnover amounted to 465 million rupees.
