The Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority (SLSEA) has issued a public notice urging homeowners and institutions to verify the legitimacy of service providers before installing rooftop solar systems.
This warning comes in response to an increase in complaints about fraudulent companies misleading electricity consumers into believing they are authorized to install such systems. As demand for solar energy grows amid rising electricity costs and a push for sustainable alternatives, the rooftop solar program has become increasingly popular. SLSEA advises the public to exercise caution and conduct thorough checks when selecting solar service providers.
Under the SLSEA’s rooftop solar power installation program, only service providers registered with the authority are authorized to undertake such installations. Electricity users are urged to confirm the registration status of any service provider through the official SLSEA directory, available online at SLSEA Directory.
SLSEA emphasized that no imports or services beyond those carried out by registered providers are authorized, ensuring compliance with technical and regulatory standards.
