Sri Lankan Rupee Opens Stronger as Bond Yields Show Mixed Movement

Sri Lanka’s rupee opened stronger on Friday, trading at 293.60/65 against the US dollar, an improvement from Thursday’s rate of 293.78/82, according to market dealers. Meanwhile, bond yields showed varied movements across maturities.

A bond maturing on 15th December 2026 was quoted at 10.55/70 percent, slightly up from the previous day’s 10.50/70 percent. The bond maturing on 15th December 2027 remained stable at 11.50/55 percent.

A bond maturing on 15th March 2028 maintained its rate at 10.75/80 percent, unchanged from Thursday. Meanwhile, a bond maturing on 15th June 2029 saw an increase, quoted at 12.03/05 percent, up from 11.95/12.10 percent. The bond maturing on 15th May 2030 also showed an uptick, quoted at 12.15/25 percent, up from Thursday’s 12.20/30 percent.
