Sri Lanka’s rupee opened weaker on Monday, trading at 299.75/300.50 against the US dollar, according to currency dealers. This follows the rupee’s close at 299.70/300.00 against the greenback on Friday.
In the bond market, yields dipped, with a bond maturing on 01.07.2028 quoted at 12.45/55 percent, down from 12.45/60 percent. Meanwhile, a bond maturing on 15.06.2029 was quoted at 12.70/80 percent, down from 12.80/95 percent.
Equity markets also saw a slight decline, with Colombo’s All Share Price Index opening 2.15 points lower at 11,363, and the S&P SL20 index of more liquid stocks decreasing by 0.18 percent or 5.90 points to 3,248. The market turnover was recorded at 48 million rupees.
