COLOMBO, Sri Lanka (June 4, 2024) – The Sri Lankan rupee opened flat against the US dollar on Tuesday, continuing a trend of relative stability in the foreign exchange market. The opening rate was 301.95/302.05 per dollar, unchanged from the previous day’s closing rate.
Bond yields also exhibited minimal movement. A bond maturing on December 15th, 2026, remained quoted at 9.70/80 percent. Bonds maturing on September 15th, 2027, and July 1st, 2028, saw slight adjustments, with quotes changing to 10.35/45 percent and 10.80/85 percent, respectively.
In contrast to the stability in the foreign exchange and bond markets, the Colombo Stock Exchange experienced a minor decline at the opening bell. The All Share Price Index dipped 0.05% to 12,043 points, while the S&P SL20 index fell 0.19% to 3,547 points.
