Sri Lanka’s rupee appreciated to 294.75/295.00 against the US dollar on Tuesday, strengthening from 296.10/60 recorded the previous day. Meanwhile, bond yields exhibited mixed movements.
A bond maturing on December 15, 2026, saw its yield rise slightly to 10.70/85 percent, compared to 10.65/80 percent on Monday. However, yields on other bonds decreased:
- A bond maturing on December 15, 2027, closed at 11.45/60 percent, down from 11.60/75 percent.
- The yield on a bond maturing on February 15, 2028, fell to 11.75/85 percent from 11.85/12.00 percent.
- A bond maturing on September 15, 2029, closed at 11.90/12.00 percent, down from 11.95/12.05 percent.
- A bond maturing on May 15, 2030, saw its yield increase slightly to 12.10/30 percent from 12.00/20 percent.
- A bond maturing on October 1, 2032, remained stable at 12.20/45 percent.
In related news, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka announced the issuance of 142.5 billion rupees in Treasury bills, which will be auctioned tomorrow.
