Sri Lanka’s rupee opened weaker on Friday at 305.00/75 to the US dollar, compared to 304.50/80 on Thursday, according to market dealers. Despite the weaker rupee, bond yields remained broadly steady, while the stock market saw an upward movement.
A bond maturing on 15.02.2028 was quoted at 13.60/70 percent, slightly lower than the previous day’s 13.65/80 percent. Meanwhile, a bond maturing on 15.06.2029 was quoted at 13.85/90 percent, up from 13.82/90 percent.
In the stock market, Colombo’s All Share Price Index (ASPI) opened 84.69 points higher, reaching 10,969, while the S&P SL20, which tracks more liquid stocks, rose 1.40 percent, gaining 42.96 points to reach 3,104.
The market turnover for the day was recorded at 84 million rupees.
