Sri Lanka’s women entrepreneurs face a significant challenge in accessing networking opportunities with industry leaders, according to the country’s Export Development Board (EDB). The trade body recently organized a networking and knowledge-sharing session for women entrepreneurs registered under the Women Entrepreneurship Development Program.
The event addressed a key barrier faced by these entrepreneurs — the lack of opportunities to connect with industry leaders. The session brought together 50 women entrepreneurs, including SME direct exporters, indirect exporters, leading exporters, and academics.
The session focused on fostering connections, facilitating knowledge-sharing, and encouraging collaboration to assist women entrepreneurs in navigating international markets. Speakers shared insights on critical topics such as incorporating sustainability into export operations, thriving in competitive international markets, mitigating legal risks in labor management, and understanding cultural differences and their impact on international negotiations.
The session provided valuable networking opportunities and industry insights for women entrepreneurs looking to expand their reach in the global marketplace.
