In its February edition, business magazine LMD reports that economic sentiment is steady, with an optimistic outlook prevailing as confidence strengthens amid positive trends. According to LMD, confidence within corporate circles is growing, buoyed by an increase in the LMD-PEPPERCUBE Business Confidence Index (BCI).

PepperCube Consultants noted that the improved trajectory reflects growing optimism within the corporate sector, supported by macroeconomic stability. A survey completed in the first week of January found that 58% of BCI participants expressed confidence in the economy’s improvement over the next 12 months, marking a 17-point increase from December.

Interestingly, only 8% viewed the economy optimistically ahead of the presidential election in September. The survey also revealed a shift in sentiment among sales executives, with 70% of respondents expecting an increase in sales volumes over the next 12 months, up 17% from December. Expectations of higher sales volumes in the next three months rose by six percentage points to 51%.

The LMD magazine’s Cover Story also highlights the outlook for the tourism industry, with leading figures expressing hopes that their expectations will be met this year. The full story is available on LMD’s website (www.LMD.lk).
