Sysco LABS has announced the expansion of Project Guiding Leadership and Outreach (GLO) to include undergraduate students from both state and private universities, with the goal of promoting sustainable development and fostering change within communities across Sri Lanka.
Under the guidance of GLO-certified Sysco LABS professionals, the program has provided training sessions for students from various faculties at Sri Jayewardenepura, Colombo, Kelaniya, Rajarata, Peradeniya, and SLIIT universities. Project GLO aligns with the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals and embodies Sysco LABS’ mission of “connecting the world to share food and care for one another.” The initiative aims to equip young leaders with essential leadership skills, preparing them for community outreach and sustainable development efforts.
Rehan Anthonis, Director of People Operations at Sysco LABS, emphasized the organization’s commitment to nurturing youth leadership and its positive impact on communities. He stated, “Project GLO’s efforts toward the development of youth will continue to equip new generations of leaders with essential skills and knowledge that will brighten their futures and their communities. The program reinforces the value of learning, collaboration, and connection in pursuing progress. We hope to take this program even further in the future, with a competition for students to pitch their project ideas, and we will select and incubate two such projects.”
Initially launched earlier this year, Project GLO’s first phase successfully trained and certified 26 participants, including representatives from notable corporations such as Brandix, Fortude, IFS, and JKH.
