The national tea sales average for September 2024 reached Rs.1,207.99 (US $ 4.04), marking an increase of Rs.19.50 and US $ 0.06 compared to the August 2024 average of Rs.1,188.49 (US $ 3.98).
When compared to the September 2023 average of Rs.1,165.72 (US $ 3.63), the figures show a year-on-year (YoY) growth of Rs.42.27 and US $ 0.41.
In terms of elevation categories, the High Grown average saw a month-on-month (MoM) decrease of Rs.21.26 and US $ 0.08, but a YoY increase of Rs.75.39 and US $ 0.49. The Medium Grown average rose by Rs.8.99 and US $ 0.02 MoM, with a YoY increase of Rs.20.39 and US $ 0.30. The Low Grown average recorded a MoM rise of Rs.26.01 and US $ 0.08, while the YoY comparison showed an increase of Rs.33.48 and US $ 0.40.
Across all regions, positive variances were recorded for January-September 2024 when compared to the same period in 2023, both in Sri Lankan rupee and US dollar terms.
