Tokyo Cement Appoints Two New Independent Directors

Tokyo Cement Company (Lanka) PLC has strengthened its Board by appointing two new Independent Non-Executive Directors, Mano Sekaram and Averil Anne Ludowyke. Both directors bring a wealth of experience from their respective industries, further bolstering the company’s leadership.

Mano Sekaram, a tech entrepreneur and investor, has over 30 years of experience in the Sri Lankan IT sector. He is the Founder and Chairman of 99x Technology Sri Lanka and Asia, as well as a Board Member of 99x Investment AS in Norway. 99x is a renowned digital product engineering company that serves European markets. Sekaram has been featured in the prestigious LMD100 Club in 2019 and 2020, highlighting his contributions to Sri Lanka’s corporate growth. He was also awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the British Computer Society in 2014 for his outstanding service to the ICT industry.

Sekaram’s contributions to education are equally impressive, having served on the boards of both the University of Jaffna and the University of Colombo School of Computing. He is a member of the University Grants Commission’s Consultative Committee for Computer Science and is a Board Member of the Sri Lanka Technological Campus (SLTC). As the past Chairman of SLASSCOM, he played a pivotal role in shaping the Sri Lankan IT/BPM sector. In 2023, Sekaram was appointed Honorary Consul General for Norway in Sri Lanka.

Averil Anne Ludowyke, FCA (CA Sri Lanka) and FCMA (UK), brings over 26 years of experience with Ernst & Young, where she served as Partner from 2011 to 2022. During her tenure, she led audits for various large corporations across industries including finance, retail, telecommunications, and logistics. Ludowyke also spearheaded the forensics and integrity services at the firm. Beyond her audit experience, she has a background in finance and accounting within the manufacturing sector and in relief and development organizations.

Ludowyke currently serves on the boards of Seylan Bank PLC, Ceylinco Life Insurance Ltd., and Bogala Graphite PLC. She is also a resource person for the Director Certification Program of the Sri Lanka Institute of Directors and CA Sri Lanka’s Certificate Course on Forensic Auditing. Her expertise has been recognized by prominent organizations such as CIMA, ACCA, and the National Chamber of Commerce, where she has presented and participated in conferences across multiple sectors.

With these new additions, the Tokyo Cement Board now comprises Chairman Dr. Harsha Cabral PC, Managing Director S.R. Gnanam, and directors Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy, A.D.B. Talwatte, Ravi Dias, Shuichi Nakamoto, W.C. Fernando, Praveen Gnanam, A.A. Ludowyke, and Mano Sekaram.
