Education Minister Dr. Susil Premajayantha revealed ongoing discussions between officials from the University of British Columbia (UoBC) in Vancouver, Canada, and local counterparts regarding training initiatives for Sri Lanka’s education sector. The negotiations center on training educators, lecturers, principals of the 19 National Colleges of Education (NCE), as well as educational administrators and faculty members of the proposed “Sri Lanka University of Education,” formed by merging all NCEs in the future. Present at the discussion were UoBC Acting President Prof. Gage Averill, Member of the International Board of Governors Prof. Anna Kindler, Senior Advisor and Director of International Affairs Dr. Fang Wang representing UoBC, alongside Advisor to the Education Ministry, Professor Gunapala Nanayakkara.
The dialogue underscores a strategic collaboration aimed at enhancing the training and development of educational professionals in Sri Lanka, aligning with the country’s vision for an integrated and proficient education system.
