Colombo International Campus (CIC) has entered a strategic collaboration with the University of East Anglia (UEA) UK, bringing world-class academic excellence directly to Sri Lankan students. This partnership enables learners to pursue internationally recognised undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications without leaving the country, combining affordability with a globally respected curriculum.

UEA, ranked among the top 30 universities in the UK and within the top 400 globally according to QS 2026, is renowned for its research-intensive approach, innovative teaching, and commitment to student success. By aligning with such a prestigious institution, CIC strengthens its mission to provide high-quality education that meets global standards while remaining relevant to Sri Lanka’s local context.

CIC has evolved from Campus Direct, a trusted name in international education and student placement for over 18 years. Built on a “student-first” philosophy, CIC is designed to bridge local talent with global academic expectations, providing students with access to education and career pathways aligned with international norms. Through this partnership, students can access programmes in Business, IT, Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, and other in-demand disciplines, with built-in transfer opportunities to UEA’s UK campus.

Amrith Weerasekera, Director of CIC, emphasised the significance of the collaboration: “While Sri Lanka has seen growth in international partnerships, this collaboration stands out for its global ranking and research pedigree. It enables students in Sri Lanka to gain globally recognised qualifications while developing the practical skills needed to succeed in today’s competitive job market.”

Similarly, Suresh Gunasekera, Director of CIC, highlighted the long-term vision: “This partnership represents a pivotal step in redefining higher education in Sri Lanka. By aligning with a globally ranked, research-led UK university, we ensure our students are equipped with knowledge, skills, and global exposure needed to thrive. Our focus remains on delivering accessible, high-quality education that meets international standards while maintaining local relevance.”

Based in Norwich, UK, UEA consistently ranks among the top institutions worldwide. It holds a 26th position in the UK according to the Complete University Guide 2026 and is placed 156th in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026. The university is recognised for research excellence, ranking among the UK’s top 25 for research quality, and maintains strong global standing in sustainability and equality.

Through this partnership, Sri Lankan students gain the benefit of UEA’s rigorous academic standards and internationally recognised qualifications at a significantly lower cost than studying overseas. Prof Steven McGuire, Senior Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Deputy Vice-Chancellor of UEA, stated: “We are delighted to partner with Colombo International Campus in bringing the University of East Anglia’s academic excellence to Sri Lanka. This collaboration reflects our commitment to widening access to high-quality, research-informed education globally.”

CIC’s purpose-built Colombo campus complements UEA’s academic framework with smart classrooms, advanced IT and Life Science laboratories, collaborative learning areas, recreational spaces, and a fully equipped gym. This infrastructure ensures a holistic learning environment that prepares students for both academic success and employability.

The CIC-UEA partnership heralds a new era in Sri Lanka’s higher education sector, offering students the prestige of a globally ranked university while retaining local accessibility and affordability. The initiative is expected to empower students to pursue international-standard careers without the cost and logistical challenges of studying abroad. Enrollment for the inaugural batch commences in January 2027, signalling immediate opportunities for students across the country.
