Women in Tech Sri Lanka Partners with Mark and Comm to Boost Women’s Participation in STEM

Women in Tech, the global leader in promoting inclusion, diversity, and equity in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics), has partnered with Colombo-based PR agency Mark and Comm Ltd. to enhance women’s participation in STEM fields across Sri Lanka. This collaboration aligns with Women in Tech’s mission to empower 5 million women worldwide by 2030.

The partnership agreement was formalized on August 26 at Uga Residence, where Women in Tech Sri Lanka Chapter Ambassador and Typefi Systems Vice President, People and Country Head Chathini Uduwana, exchanged agreements with Mark and Comm Ltd. Managing Director Thanzyl Thajudeen. Also present were Women in Tech Sri Lanka Chapter Partnerships Director Jezla Latiff and Mark and Comm Ltd. Director Chamanie Nanayakkara.

Women in Tech launched its Sri Lanka Chapter in November of last year, marking the nation’s integration into a global movement that spans 48 countries and includes over 200,000 members. The inaugural event, held at Monsoon Colombo, featured a panel discussion supported by various sponsors, solidifying the chapter’s presence in the country.

Uduwana expressed excitement about the partnership with Mark and Comm, highlighting the agency’s extensive experience in strategic communications. “Together, we aim to increase our visibility and advocacy to empower women and build a movement of passionate individuals who will drive our mission forward,” she said.

Thajudeen, who played a key role in establishing the Sri Lanka Chapter after discussions with the Women in Tech global team, emphasized the potential for female talent in STEAM fields in Sri Lanka. “We are honored to partner with Women in Tech Sri Lanka to raise awareness of STEAM education and inspire the next generation through advocacy, mentoring, and capacity building,” he noted.

This partnership aims to create a stronger platform for women in Sri Lanka to engage in STEAM-related disciplines, contributing to the country’s position as a strategic talent hub in the Asia-Pacific region.
