CPA Australia Explores New Collaborations with Sri Lankan Institutions

A delegation from CPA Australia, a leading global accounting body, has visited Sri Lanka to explore potential collaborations with local government bodies, professional organizations, universities, and banking institutions. The visit aimed to strengthen ties and enhance opportunities in the accounting and finance sectors.

Professor Dale Pinto (FCPA), Global President and Chair of the Board at CPA Australia, highlighted the significance of Sri Lanka’s experienced professionals and emerging talent. “Sri Lanka’s vibrant talent pool is a major driver behind our commitment to the region,” he said.

During their visit, the delegation, which included board members and international representatives, engaged in discussions with President Ranil Wickremesinghe and other local officials. Key meetings were held with regulatory bodies, employers, and educational and banking institutions.

CPA Australia has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the CFA Society Sri Lanka and the University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJ). These agreements aim to enhance collaboration and provide young professionals with up-to-date knowledge and skills in accounting and finance. The goal is to contribute to Sri Lanka’s sustainable economic development.

Since opening its local liaison office in June 2023, CPA Australia has seen its membership grow to nearly 500, with members taking on significant roles across various industries. A recent ceremony also recognized Sri Lankan companies as official CPA Australia Employer Partners (REP).

Professor Pinto expressed gratitude for the support from prominent employers, noting that their partnership with CPA Australia offers exceptional career opportunities for members. The organization’s forum on “Digitalisation, AI, and the Future of Business,” held on July 23, attracted over 100 C-suite executives and senior professionals to discuss the impact of emerging technologies on business.

CPA Australia’s visit underscores the organization’s commitment to supporting Sri Lanka’s economic growth and empowering its talented professionals through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and future-proof skills development.
