HNB FINANCE anniversary celebrations honor 25 years of service with multi-faith blessings

HNB FINANCE PLC marked its 25th anniversary with a series of multi-faith religious ceremonies that paid tribute to the company’s journey of financial inclusion, community empowerment, and longstanding service to Sri Lankans across the country. As one of the nation’s most trusted financial institutions, the company has placed people and community at the heart of its values for over two and a half decades. This year’s celebrations were designed not only to invoke blessings but also to reflect the organization’s steady progress, resilience, and commitment to uplifting lives.

The multi-faith observances began at the HNB FINANCE Head Office in Nawala with Buddhist and Christian rituals that symbolized unity, gratitude, and continuity. The Buddhist ceremony opened with an all-night Pirith chanting session, a traditional invocation of blessings for protection and prosperity. The following day, an almsgiving was offered to twenty-five members of the Maha Sangha, commemorating the company’s 25-year milestone. This meritorious event was conducted under the guidance of Ven. Kalankuttiye Soratha Thero, Chief Incumbent of the Nawala Wickramasingharama Viharaya, who emphasized the value of compassion, gratitude, and mindful leadership.

Complementing the Buddhist observances, a Christian service was held as part of the anniversary celebrations. Conducted by Rev. Fr. Prasad Harshana from St. Aloysius Church in Colombo 08, the ceremony focused on blessings for the company’s leadership, employees, and the communities it serves. These combined rituals underscored the organization’s commitment to honoring the diverse faiths represented both within its workforce and the wider Sri Lankan society.

The events drew the participation of Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Chaminda Prabhath, Deputy Chief Executive Officer Maduranga Heenkenda, senior management, and staff from the Head Office and various branches. Their presence highlighted the unified sense of purpose that has guided HNB FINANCE through periods of expansion, economic challenges, and a rapidly evolving financial landscape.

The multi-faith program extended beyond Colombo with a Hindu ceremony held at Aanaipanthy Sri Siththi Vigneshwara Hindu Kovil in Batticaloa. Led by Balasivaramana Poojagar, the observance attracted officials, employees, and customers from across the Northern and Eastern regions, including Batticaloa and Kalmunai. The turnout reflected the company’s deep roots in communities nationwide and its commitment to fostering meaningful relationships across cultural and regional boundaries.

These gatherings symbolized more than a corporate celebration; they represented HNB FINANCE’s longstanding dedication to supporting people from all walks of life. For decades, the company has played a key role in expanding financial access for underserved populations, offering essential services that strengthen livelihoods, foster entrepreneurship, and encourage economic mobility. Its branch network, customer base, and operational philosophy have consistently prioritized inclusivity and trust—values that continue to shape its identity.

Reflecting on the milestone, Chaminda Prabhath shared heartfelt remarks about the company’s evolution and impact. He stated that over the past 25 years, HNB FINANCE has transformed the financial services landscape by understanding and responding to the unique needs of its customers. Beginning with modest foundations, the company has grown into a forward-thinking institution, navigating some of the most challenging periods in recent history with determination and innovation. Throughout economic fluctuations, social changes, and global disruptions, HNB FINANCE has maintained profitability while protecting livelihoods and strengthening community relationships.

Prabhath emphasized that the company’s greatest strength lies in its people—the committed employees who drive day-to-day operations and the loyal customers who have placed their trust in the institution throughout its journey. He expressed deep gratitude for their support and highlighted their essential role in elevating the organization’s reputation over the decades. As HNB FINANCE moves into its next phase, he noted that the company is guided by a renewed sense of purpose and a continued commitment to serving communities with integrity and care.

The 25th anniversary marks not only a celebration of past achievements but also a reaffirmation of the company’s mission to enhance financial inclusion and community development. With a strong nationwide presence, a reputation for transparency, and a loyal customer base, HNB FINANCE remains focused on empowering individuals, supporting small businesses, and contributing to the broader socio-economic progress of Sri Lanka. The multi-faith ceremonies serve as a symbolic reminder of the values that have shaped its history and the collective aspirations driving its future.

As the company enters its next chapter, the anniversary observances stand as a meaningful expression of gratitude, unity, and renewed commitment. They reflect HNB FINANCE’s dedication to uplifting communities across the nation and strengthening the bonds that define its legacy.
