Marriott CG Hospitality Global partnership to launch luxury properties in India and Nepal
The agreement, which is expected to add nearly 450 rooms to Marriott International’s regional portfolio by 2031, will introduce some of the company’s most renowned hospitality brands to Kathmandu in Nepal and Siliguri in India. The developments include The Ritz-Carlton Kathmandu, The Westin Kathmandu and JW Marriott Hotel Siliguri.
The signing reflects increasing confidence in South Asia’s tourism potential and growing demand for high-end hospitality experiences across urban, leisure and business destinations. It also marks another milestone in the expanding relationship between Marriott International and CG Hospitality Global, one of Nepal’s largest and most diversified multinational conglomerates.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Marriott International Chairman of the Board David Marriott, CG Corp Global and CG Hospitality Chairman Dr. Binod K. Chaudhary, and CG Hospitality Global Managing Director and CEO Rahul Chaudhary.
Speaking on the partnership, Marriott International President for Asia Pacific excluding China Rajeev Menon said the company was pleased to deepen its association with CG Hospitality Global through a shared vision of delivering world-class hospitality experiences across high-potential markets.
He noted that the developments represent Marriott’s commitment to bringing its luxury and premium brands to destinations with strong growth prospects while contributing to tourism development, job creation and broader economic activity. Menon added that CG Hospitality Global’s market expertise and long-term commitment to Nepal would help position the properties among the region’s leading hospitality destinations.
CG Hospitality Global CEO and Managing Director Rahul Chaudhary described the agreement as an important step in advancing South Asia’s hospitality sector. He said the collaboration demonstrates the confidence both organisations have in the partnership and their shared ambition to create iconic destinations that celebrate local culture, generate employment opportunities and deliver exceptional guest experiences.
The first project, The Ritz-Carlton Kathmandu, will mark the debut of the iconic luxury brand in Nepal. Planned with 150 guest rooms, including 30 suites, the property is expected to offer a blend of refined luxury and personalised service. The hotel is set to feature five dining venues, a Ritz-Carlton Spa, fitness facilities, an outdoor swimming pool and more than 1,100 square metres of meeting and event space.
Strategically located approximately five kilometres from Tribhuvan International Airport, the hotel will provide convenient access to several of Kathmandu’s most popular cultural and heritage attractions, including Thamel, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath Stupa and the revered Pashupatinath Temple.
The Westin Kathmandu will also introduce a premium wellness-focused hospitality experience to Nepal’s capital. The property is expected to feature 150 rooms and suites, three dining venues, a WestinWORKOUT Fitness Studio, Heavenly Spa by Westin and a rooftop swimming pool. The hotel will additionally provide more than 700 square metres of flexible meeting and event space equipped with modern technology.
Designed around the brand’s global wellness philosophy, The Westin Kathmandu aims to help travellers maintain healthy routines through its signature Sleep Well, Eat Well and Move Well initiatives.
In India, the JW Marriott Hotel Siliguri will bring the brand’s mindful luxury concept to one of the country’s key gateway cities. Located at the foothills of the Himalayas and approximately 10 kilometres from Bagdogra Airport, the hotel will feature 150 guest rooms and suites alongside wellness-focused amenities and curated dining experiences.
Plans for the property include four dining venues, a Spa by JW, fitness facilities, an outdoor swimming pool and approximately 1,500 square metres of banquet and event space. The development is expected to serve both business and leisure travellers visiting Northeast India.
The Marriott CG Hospitality Global partnership continues to gain momentum across several international markets. The latest agreement follows recent milestones that include 75 signings and 50 operational properties under Series by Marriott within less than two years. The two groups have also collaborated on projects in the Philippines and the United Arab Emirates.
Industry observers view the latest expansion as a significant indicator of continued investment confidence in South Asia’s hospitality sector. With luxury travel demand rising and tourism infrastructure improving across the region, the new developments are expected to strengthen Nepal and India’s appeal as premier destinations for international travellers.
The Marriott CG Hospitality Global agreement further reinforces both companies’ long-term commitment to delivering world-class hospitality experiences while supporting regional tourism growth and economic development.
