Air Astana, the national carrier of Kazakhstan, has officially resumed its flights to Sri Lanka for the winter 2024/2025 season, with the inaugural flight landing at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) on Monday night.
The flight was welcomed with a ceremonial water cannon salute organized by the Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Ltd., followed by a vibrant traditional Kandyan dance performance arranged by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB).
Air Astana will operate four weekly flights between Kazakhstan and Sri Lanka, enhancing connectivity between the two countries and opening new opportunities for tourism, trade, and cultural exchange.
The resumption of winter season flights is expected to increase arrivals and help Sri Lanka Tourism achieve a record-breaking 2024.
