Celebrating Tradition: Bank of Ceylon Hosts 41st Annual Sand Paving Ceremony at Anuradhapura Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi

The Bank of Ceylon recently organized the annual pinkama, a revered ritual of laying white sand at the Anuradhapura Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya. Led by the Venerable Chief Incumbent Atamasthanadhipathi, Nuwara Kalaviya Pallegama Hemarathana Thera, this event aimed to invoke blessings for peace, harmony, and prosperity across the nation.

Chairman Kavan Ratnayake, General Manager/CEO Russell Fonseka, along with the Bank’s Board of Directors, corporate executives, staff members, and officials from the North Central Province, participated in the ceremony, highlighting the significance of this spiritual tradition.

The Anuradhapura Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi, revered worldwide by Buddhists, symbolizes enlightenment. It remains sacred as the site where Siddhartha Gautama Bodhisattva achieved enlightenment and where Lord Buddha bestowed the animisa lochana, or the uninterrupted vision.

The participation of Bank of Ceylon and its affiliates underscores the importance of preserving and honoring this sacred site, fostering spiritual reverence and cultural heritage.
