The 21st edition of Colombo Fashion Week (CFW) promises a vibrant celebration of fashion, culture, and sustainability, taking place from March 6th to 9th across three iconic locations in Colombo, Sri Lanka: Cinnamon Grand, Taj Samudra, and Galle Face Hotel. This year’s event goes beyond showcasing established and emerging Sri Lankan designers; it aims to position Colombo itself as a thriving cultural destination with global appeal.
CFW Founder and Managing Director, Ajai Vir Singh, envisions this edition as a platform to not only showcase Colombo’s vibrant fashion scene but also its potential as a hub for the creative industries. By hosting events across multiple locations on Galle Road, CFW 2024 embraces a “new format” that aims to create an immersive experience centered around the city’s diverse offerings. Fashion will seamlessly blend with food, culture, and more, showcasing Colombo as a dynamic and multifaceted city.
The event will feature a series of fashion shows highlighting the works of established and emerging Sri Lankan designers at iconic landmarks throughout Colombo. Additionally, insightful discussions will delve into current industry trends and explore CFW’s impact on Sri Lanka’s evolving fashion landscape.
Adding a global dimension, CFW 2024 welcomes international designers from Italy, England, Pakistan, and India, including renowned names like Samant Chauhan, Payal Pratap, and Alessandra Lorusso. These international talents will share the spotlight with prominent Sri Lankan designers such as Asanka De Mel and Darshi Keerthisena, creating a diverse showcase of global fashion perspectives. Over 10 emerging designers will also have the opportunity to present their collections, further enriching the experience.
Recognized as one of the first global fashion events to embrace sustainability, CFW has consistently championed ethical practices under Singh’s leadership. Initiatives like Ethical Fashion Day, the Responsible Fashion Summit, and the innovative Responsible Meter tool have solidified CFW’s position as a leader in sustainable fashion on a global scale. Continuing this commitment, CFW 2024, in partnership with Mastercard, aims to further digitize sustainability practices by 2025, while simultaneously nurturing and supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) within the fashion ecosystem.
With its diverse program, focus on sustainability, and commitment to showcasing Sri Lankan talent alongside international names, CFW 2024 promises to be a truly unique and impactful event, solidifying Colombo’s position as a vibrant cultural and creative hub.
