Hayleys Agriculture Partnership Elevates Poultry Nutrition

The Hayleys Agriculture partnership with global nutrition leader Evonik Industries AG marks a significant step in upgrading Sri Lanka’s poultry sector, introducing advanced, science-backed nutritional solutions to improve productivity, efficiency, and long-term industry resilience.

Hayleys Agriculture partnership introduces advanced poultry nutrition to Sri Lanka

Hayleys Agriculture Holdings Limited has strengthened its role in Sri Lanka’s agribusiness landscape through a strategic Hayleys Agriculture partnership with Evonik Industries AG, becoming the exclusive distributor of Evonik’s globally recognised specialty nutrient portfolio for the local poultry industry. This collaboration marks the first time these advanced animal nutrition solutions are being formally introduced to Sri Lanka, underscoring a growing emphasis on science-led, performance-driven agricultural practices.

Evonik Industries AG, headquartered in Germany and operating in more than 110 countries, ranks among the world’s top five animal nutrition companies and is also one of the largest specialty chemicals manufacturers globally. Its animal nutrition division is widely respected for evidence-based innovations designed to enhance animal health, optimise feed efficiency, and improve overall production outcomes. Through this partnership, Sri Lankan poultry producers gain direct access to globally benchmarked technologies that have already demonstrated measurable benefits in international markets.

The formal launch of the collaboration was held on 25 November 2025 at The Kingsbury Hotel in Colombo, with senior leadership from both organisations in attendance. Hayleys PLC was represented by its Chairman and Chief Executive, Mohan Pandithage, alongside key executives from Hayleys Agriculture. Evonik Industries AG was represented by senior specialists including Dr. Marion Hax, Head of Specialty Nutrition at Evonik Animal Nutrition, Dr. Lukas Baur, Global Portfolio Development Manager, Dr. Girish Channarayapatana, Technical Head for Specialty Nutrients in Asia, and Dr. Yuwraj Patil, Business Manager for India, Sri Lanka, and Nepal.

Commenting on the collaboration, Dr. Susantha Mallawa Arachchi, Director of Hayleys Agriculture Holdings Limited and General Manager of Hayleys Animal Health, emphasised the broader strategic value of the agreement. He noted that the Hayleys Agriculture partnership reflects a commitment to elevating Sri Lanka’s livestock and poultry sectors through globally validated technologies. By combining Evonik’s scientific leadership with Hayleys Agriculture’s deep local market expertise and extensive distribution network, the partnership aims to accelerate the adoption of modern nutritional strategies that directly address the operational challenges faced by poultry producers.

Under the agreement, Sri Lankan feed manufacturers and poultry integrators will gain access to Evonik’s premium specialty nutrient solutions, each designed to address critical aspects of poultry health and performance. These include GUTCARE®, a unique probiotic strain developed to strengthen gut health, enhance resilience to stress factors, and support overall animal well-being. Another key offering is SPEOCARE® T60, a high-performance tributyrin formulation that supports gut integrity and nutrient absorption, particularly under demanding production conditions.

The portfolio also includes GUANAMINO®, a highly bioavailable form of guanidinoacetic acid that plays a crucial role in improving energy metabolism, muscle development, and reproductive performance. Globally, these solutions are recognised for delivering improved feed conversion efficiency, healthier birds, and lower overall production costs. Such outcomes are increasingly important as poultry producers navigate volatile input prices, rising quality expectations, and intensifying competition.

Beyond immediate performance benefits, the partnership aligns closely with Hayleys Agriculture’s broader mandate to modernise Sri Lanka’s agricultural ecosystem. The company drives economic value across an extensive network of farmers, outgrowers, and agricultural producers by connecting them to global supply chains, strengthening technical capabilities, and delivering structured extension services. Its long-standing relationships across the agricultural value chain, combined with robust research and development capacity, support sustainable growth across the sector.

The Hayleys Agriculture partnership delivers a distinct competitive advantage by granting exclusive access to science-driven nutrition solutions that are not available through competing distributors. Being first to market with these innovations enhances Hayleys Agriculture’s value proposition, positioning the company as a strategic solutions partner rather than a conventional supplier of inputs.

This positioning is further reinforced by Hayleys Agriculture’s strong technical advisory services and nationwide reach, which enable faster adoption of new technologies and measurable performance improvements for customers. Industry observers note that such integrated support models are critical for ensuring that advanced nutritional solutions translate into tangible productivity gains at farm level.

Overall, the collaboration with Evonik Industries AG is expected to contribute significantly to productivity, sustainability, and long-term resilience within Sri Lanka’s poultry industry. As global standards continue to shape local agricultural practices, partnerships of this nature play a vital role in ensuring that Sri Lankan producers remain competitive, efficient, and aligned with international benchmarks.
