Hemas Expresses Interest in Extending Presence to Kenya

Hemas Hospitals, a prominent healthcare institution in Sri Lanka, is actively exploring opportunities to expand its presence into Kenya. Led by CEO Dr. Lakith Peiris and a delegation including Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to Kenya, Kana V. Kananathan, Hemas Hospitals engaged in discussions with Kenyan health authorities in Nairobi. The talks, held on Friday, centered around the potential establishment of specialized hospitals, laboratories, and pharmaceutical ventures within Kenya, highlighting Hemas Hospitals’ commitment to delivering patient-centric care and innovation.

During the meetings with key figures from Kenya’s Ministry of Health, including the Health Minister, the delegation delved into avenues for collaboration between Hemas Hospitals and Kenya’s healthcare sector. High Commissioner Kananathan emphasized the importance of aligning with local regulations and best practices, underscoring Hemas Hospitals’ legacy of excellence in healthcare. In addition to exploring new ventures in Kenya, Hemas Hospitals has been pre-qualified as a bidder to acquire the Government’s stake in the Lanka Hospitals Corporation, showcasing the institution’s strategic growth initiatives. High Commissioner Kananathan highlighted Kenya’s favorable investment climate and encouraged Sri Lankan businesses to consider expanding into Africa, citing the vast potential for mutually beneficial partnerships. The increasing presence of Sri Lankan enterprises in Kenya reflects a growing trend of collaboration between the two nations, fostering economic and healthcare ties.
