State Minister Amunugama and Delegation Engage at ‘Hannover Messe 2024’

State Minister of Investment Promotion Dilum Amunugama made a significant debut at the prestigious ‘Hannover Messe 2024’ in Hannover, Germany, from April 24 to 26. This marked Sri Lanka’s inaugural official participation at the renowned industrial trade fair, recognized globally as a platform showcasing cutting-edge innovations and technologies. During his visit, State Minister Amunugama focused on promoting investment opportunities in Sri Lanka, fostering bilateral economic relations with Germany, and exploring avenues for collaboration between Sri Lankan and German businesses.

Welcomed by esteemed officials including Head of Protocol Michael Rose and Director-Public Affairs of Deutsche Messe, Andrej Gross, State Minister Amunugama and his delegation engaged in discussions aimed at raising awareness about Sri Lanka’s investment potential. Emphasizing Sri Lanka’s commitment to economic stability and ongoing reforms, the Minister underscored the country’s appeal for investment, particularly in sectors like renewable energy, with a focus on green hydrogen. Additionally, meetings with representatives from German Trade and Investment agencies, as well as key players in various sectors such as automotive and maritime services, provided valuable insights into potential areas of collaboration and investment.

As part of the visit, the Sri Lankan delegation toured companies involved in the hydrogen value chain, gaining firsthand exposure to the latest advancements in the sector. Furthermore, the delegation visited Continental AG, a prominent German company that recently committed to significant investments in Sri Lanka’s production facilities. Organized in collaboration with AHK Sri Lanka and the Sri Lankan Embassy in Berlin, Sri Lanka’s participation at ‘Hannover Messe 2024’ underscored the country’s proactive approach towards fostering international partnerships and attracting foreign investment in key sectors of its economy.
